26 June

Sane and serene
They seem
These lights
From places not there
Where they appear

And, in the north,
I will never see
For myself
What the south has
As its 'show'

The tilt of the earth,
That darkness
We call night,
At best the moon

And all can see it,
If, at the poles,
Maybe eightfold
Like the sun
The overhead sun

Yet, midnight sun
Though it is,
It tends to melt
Rather little

These pinprick cousins
At night
Melt less still,
But melt me,
Melt my heart
