Staring at 'the ball' stops it moving, as does staring at the lower part of 'the spindle' - does that work for other viewers ?

At ninety degrees (L to R or R to L ?), one also looks at something that has very little aparent rotation or movement, a fixity which transfers itself, if one reverts to the original view, and renders it less visually active
